After twenty years in the world's premier maritime organization (according to our own PR) I'm getting out and headed for a real job in Houston, Texas.

Aside from steer horns and a nice rifle rack should I be looking at any other hot, muggy weather equipment?

In anticipation of the journey I've replaced my belts, bought spares, picked up a new water pump, and checked all my hoses. I'm planning to do a timing check and tune-up before I hit the road. Roland is pretty low mileage (approaching 51K) and very dependable so far -- only failed to start when the temp hit -20f and zapped the battery. Since I brought him home a year ago I've changed the auto tranny fluid, filter and gasket, replaced the shocks (KYB -- stiff but functional), tires (MXT's -- excellent investment in ride and handling), auxiliary battery (Diehard Marine Deep Cycle ('cause it was free)), did the brakes, added Bosch +4's, and a K&N air filter. I just got an Airlift kit to address the butt dragging syndrome. Before I hit the road I plan to system flush and change the coolant.

Any list members in Houston? Anybody got any good recommendations for service/parts places in or near Houston? Anybody happen to know of a house for sale with a Westy-sized garage?

Chuck '85 Weekender -- 'Roland'
