Last week my parents took their New Beetle TDI to Dublin Auto (Northern California) for routine service. They talked to one of the dealer's courtesy shuttle drivers, Joe, who is now driving a new Eurovan as the dealer shuttle. It's regular 7-passenger with the "black magic" (black metallic) paint. Joe was driving a Chrysler minivan (the dealer also sells Dodge products) and couldn't wait to tell my mother how much better he liked the Eurovan than the Doge minivan he used to drive. At one point he had the Eurovan up to 90mph but didn't realize it - said if he went over 70mph in the Dodge he was definitely aware of it, but the Eurovan is so smooth and quiet he didn't even realize he was going 90! I'm a die-hard Vanagon fan but I must admit the new Eurovan is attractive. If anyone's interested they just got in a Eurovan MV (rear-facing seats, table, curtains, etc.), also in Black Magic. (Over $32,000, however! - but every option you can imagine.) P.S. - Golden Gate's Vintage VW Kelly Park Show in San Jose, CA this Sunday, April 9th - I'm not planning on going but it's fun, especially if you like old air-cooled VWs.
