I am replacing my gasket for the differential (Final Drive) on my 83.5 Westy Automatic (160,000 Miles) because its starting to leak more than I want it to. I ordered a gasket, new bolts and lock washers from VW and they arrived today. The gasket is red on one side and purple with text on another.

The question if anybody knows: Is there a difference which side goes against the differential?
