For those who are trying to save a buck let me say what I have learned from repairing German cars for over 20 years.

Every time that I have encountered a machined rotor from any late model VW, BMW or lesser MB they warped. The official word from all of these manufactures is to NEVER machine brake rotors ALWAYS replace them. They are thin and are meant to be disposable. Yes, you can true them up, have a nice finish and be above minimum spec. However they more than likely will not stay above min spec for the life of the pads. With less material to dissipate heat they easily warp. Vanagons are not light yet they have wimpy brake rotors to begin with.

It is your vehicle and you can do whatever you wish. As a business owner I will never sell a repair that I know will not work like new for the duration.
