Subject: Volks Cafe (ie Volks Motorsports.com) is awesome!

These guys at Volks Cafe are awesome! With the arrival of my twin daughters a couple years back, I sold my beloved '69 Dodge Charger to get a more practical ride (my first VW, a '91 GL). I also lost my inclination to perform repairs, so it's been interesting seeking out good mechanic help. I've taken my Vanagon to Volks Cafe previously for relatively minor repair and maintenance, and felt pretty good about their service. I went metal to metal on my front disc brakes recently. I called Volks Cafe, but they were all booked up, so I swung by a Porsche, Audi and VW garage just down the street from me. He told me the problem, and quoted me $650 for two new rotors, bearings and some other stuff. I had to pay $400 each for a (at that time RARE) pair of OEM rotors for my Charger, but $650 for Vanagon rotors seemed a little steep. He really seemed genuinely concerned, even though he gave me the hard sell, showed me the pads and rotors while my van was on the lift. He made me sign an Unsafe to Drive waiver and wished me luck. Pretty nice guy, I thought. Then I was pissed because I felt it was my procrastination and lack of experience with VW's that was going to cost me some big $. I decided to have Volks Cafe check things out and see what they would say. Well. $158 later my '91 GL is back on the road. They were able to remachine the rotors and just gave me new pads. Unbelievable! Anyway, it's unfortunate that being honest is rare these days, but I've got to hand it to Volks Cafe for setting the standard in my neck of the woods!
