Hi everyone... I'm new to the list! I need to know what you mean by gutted. Does gutted mean it is gone? I just purchased an 82 Vanagon, but I just found out it does not have a cat. We want it to pass emissions so we will have time to save up the money for the cat...any suggestions? It has 106,000 miles, it runs great. Needs a tune up, but other than that it is great!! Thanks!! Bottom line on this is . . . Oh hell, I don't even begin to know what the bottom line is. Probably we should all drive less, or maybe not at all.

NO, I DON'T WANT TO START A THREAD ON HORSES. >> My CAT on my syncro is also gutted. With everything perfectly tuned, I also pass the emissions tests in flying colors. Although vanagons do have a high hydrocarbons at IDLE before the CAT in which the CAT will reduce. I do have more power with a very slight different exhaust note. See ya, Michael
