Ken, I'm confused. On the starters (note plural) that I have in the garage, the starter drive gear, actuated by the solenoid) moves freely on a shaft which is held by the nosecone of the starter. This is part of the starter and therefore replaced with each starter replenishment cycle. When I remove the starter and rebolt to the bellhousing the starter seems to be located by the circular recess in that housing. The two bolts also seem to be a close fit through the starter housing holes. Is there a further locator in the bell housing? Thanks Frank Grunthaner |
