My '86 Syncro is making a strange noise, and I wonder if anyone has an idea what it is. As I go to back out of the garage or when I am pulling in, and just barely starting to move, you hear what sounds like a gear drive start winding up to very high speed. I may have only moved a few feet at a crawl, but this noise sounds like something spinning up very fast. And it seems to be coming from the front - maybe the front right. If I stop, it stops. As I go faster, I lose the noise. My wife says it sounds like air being let out of a balloon when you try to make it whistle. It may have been making various versions of this noise for a long time. We used to hear a noise that sounded like a whimpering puppy just as I slowly stopped in the garage - when it was good and hot. But this noise is from cold. The noise is definitely tied to starting to move. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |
