I am having a strange problem with my '85 Vanagon. Starts fine, idles fine, but when I accelerate, I can get up to about 3500 RPM and then I abruptly loose power and the vehicle acts like it is going to stall (if I floor the gas pedal the engine almost sputters to a stop). It feels like when you are running low on gas and you turn a corner and loose power until the gas sloshes back to the side of the tank with the intake hose. Also, if I am waiting on a light on a steep hill (facing up) the car will stall (but I can start it back up again). I just had it worked on (cooling related) so it might be possible that the shop accidentally unplugged something or forgot to plug something back in. Also, I was running low on gas right after I got the van back so might it be possible that I have air in the lines? The fuel pump and the fuel filter are about a year old. Suggestions on what to check? Thanks in advance Scott Semyan |
