The limit of the lighter outlet is about 8 amps.  *Highly* unlikely that
your device will draw anything near that.  Use it in peace and don't worry
about it when the van is running.  If you want to use it when the van is
not running, you need to do a little calculating or experimenting or both
to know how long you can get away with.
