I'd start with the valve cover, since it sounds like thats what is being referred to as the location from which the oil is seaping. The gasket could have slipped out of place during installation or the valve cover could be warped.

John, Since the engine only loses a little when running, but a bunch runs out when you add oil, I'd guess that you have a cracked oil fill tube. The oil sloshes around enough while driving to get up into the tube and drain down to where it's dripping. When you add oil, part of it leaks out the same way. Let us know what the shop finds out.
