Exactly the same colors that are described in the wiring diagram for the difflock in my German book.

It is the easy way, and should be no problem. The ligth should be lit. The brown is indeed an earth lead, but the blue/brown is a switched earth. ALL brown wires are earth, ALL that are brown and another color is switched earth!
