Believe it or not, it is neither illegal nor unsafe to dispose of "gray
water" by dumping onto a dirt road or draining your tank slowly while
driving down the highway.  Gray water poses no hazard, and is not nearly
as bad as the other fluids dripping off of most vehicles. Many
unimproved campgrounds without dry sumps dug for this purpose request
that you dump gray water on the dirt roads in the campground.  They
don't want it in the pit toilets.

(Note:  This does not apply if you pee in your sink in an emergency, and
I am sure no one on this list would do that!)

Gray water is 99+% water with a little soap in it.  Steve Lashley's tank
is an elegant (albeit expensive) storage solution that eliminates the
need for packing another bucket along.  If you don't move your van for
several days take a collapsible tank to drain it into and dump from
that.  If you camp with a full hookup, you can carry a few feet of
flexible waste hose and hook it up to Steve's tank, which comes with
this large opening, and not have to store any gray water, just pass it
on through.  There really is no need to hold 20 gallons of gray water at
one time, especially since the water tank doesn't hold that much!  You
would be much better served putting a second propane tank in that empty
space on the right side.

There is no need to go to a campground dump station for gray water,
those are for sewage and you are just needlessly adding to the cost of
pumping them out.
