Just carry a regular extension cord. The circuit breaker in the Vanagon will blow before just about any outdoor-rated extension cord will.

I carry a Sears special, 25' bright orange exterior extension cord, along with a 25' RV/Marine water hose. (though I don't use the "city water" hookup, just use it for filling the tank)

I recently purchased a westy that is missing the power cord. What gauge cord do I need to buy or does it matter?
