Subject: BFG 27" spare doesn't fit!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Well, despite information I received from a couple of list members with Syncros, the 27" BFG All Terrain KO isn't even *close* to fitting in the spare location under the front. As I can see, it is about 1/2" too large in diameter to be able to push up into the location under the car. Even forcing it up there, I still have about 6" to go to close the "clam shell" lower tray. There is interference with the front edge of the tire - it won't clear the sheet metal there that supports the radiator.

In addition, even if I could somehow jam it up there, it looks like the tire would interfere with the operation of the steering rod that runs to the steering rack. (i.e. the tire is too wide)

Any other suggestions? Am I missing something?

David Marshall mentioned a modification he did to fit his 16" tire, but I don't seem to have it in my archives...
