Actually the main problem with the submerged take off is figuring the correct length for the snorkel for the air intake and exhaust. As take off speed increases the drag on the tubing causes the snorkel to lag behind the aircraft. As the plane moves forward the angle of the snorkel decreases from 90 degrees. The more speed the greater the decrease in angle and the more hose is needed to reach the surface or the snorkel is pulled under the water and the take off is aborted. The good part is we have finally figured the correct number of empty Corrosion X cans to use as a snorkel float is exactly equal to the number of cans used to protect the entire aircraft, Plus the radio.
