Volks -

On my way back from buying new tires, I spotted a For Sale sign on a cream Westy with white top in a parking lot.

Overall it looks OK. The paint is faded, but there is no rust except at a very small dent on the front of the left rear wheel well, and halfway up the left rear corner where there is a little wrinkle.

It has passenger tires, needs a poptop seal, and is missing the left rear bumper cap. (But the bumper is straight!)

From what I could tell the interior looked clean with no rips in the upholstery. The front table was there, but not the back. All of the curtains looked like they were there. Tucked in various places I saw what looked like the back and side ones, and a snap-in rear hatch screen.

There is evidence of a small oil leak from the center of the engine, but I didn't see any sign of coolant drips. The exhaust looks sound, and I didn't seen any obvious problems from a quick look underneath.

The phone number is 208-882-6714

They are asking $6500, which seems high for this area. I sold my 83.5 in better condition for $4300 last April. But - who knows, it might have all new mechanicals.

Call them, not me, I don't know any more.

If after talking to the owner you are interested in having me take a look at it, I would be happy to.
