I had noticed that long ago. They are both throttle enrichment settings. However, the two signals do have different effects, depending upon what other info the ECU has floating around in its beady little brain.

At full throttle, the switch will set the O2 sensor reading to full lean, causing the injectors to fully enrich the mixture, and if you take your foot off the gas at over 2000 rpm or so, the fuel will be shut off to the injectors.
