Itinernary of last camping trip: When: President Day's Weekend Who: Roommate and I Where: Planned on BWCA (Boundary Waters Canoe Are) for some winter camping. I blew out my knee skiing a month before hand. When I asked if I could go on this trip my PT person told me I was not allowed to carry a pack and snow shoe (had the big knee immobilizer on). Since she didn't say that I couldn't snowshoe and being a pain in the rear that I am. I convince the roommate that we would do day hikes on the Superior Hiking Trail and camp in the bus (meaning day pack, instead of full pack or sled). What Happened: Roommate joked as backing out of driveway, "watch we won't even make it to 694 and 35W (roughly 15 miles). Ten miles later we were sitting at Applebee's waiting for his girlfriend to pick us up. Results of the trip: Caught a buzz with roommate at Applebee's bar. Love for my Westy just grew that much fonder! The problem that caused the failed trip, was most likely my oversight. Went out the next day by Jetta and did some snowshoeing in the river valley. Overall a good weekend. You can't always plan for things to go the way you think they will. This statement just become that much more true with a Westy. Ryan |
