I recently sold my '82 Westy after 4 years of loving care... and a new Jetta engine for the last 3 years. That of course had its challenges and rewards, but overall is/was an excellent vehicle. The current owner flew out to California earlier this month and drove it home to Michigan in 5 days with stops for skiing and not one problem. He's stoked, I'm stoked for him. My wife was glad I finally "got rid of that thing." Of course, I turned right around and bought a '90 Westy Auto. It has very low miles, but I imagine I'll have my share of fixits, from head gaskets to heater blowers. I accept it. These vehicles are a surfers' dream ride. ChrisR '90 Westy "Blue Whale" |
