While we're on the subject... If you don't mind mil. surplus jerry cans, you can get them for $11.97 at http://www.sportsmansguide.com/ - go to the site and type "swiss can" in the keyword search field. These are 5 gal. Swiss military surplus in OD or black. I've bought a few and they are perfectly functional, though not 100% flawless - there can be some minor seam rust (but that's nothing new to this list!) and they may contain a very small amount of residual fuel. They've got these aluminum mini-placards held in place by a little spring that describe the can's contents - petrol, diesel, unleaded - in German - cool! They are of excellent, heavy-duty construction, esp. compared to those I've seen at local stores. Note that the vendor specifies that they must be painted red to carry petrol. The rubber gasketed lids clamp closed very tightly. Flexible pour spouts are available for $6.97. Doug Fitz-Randolph Yarmouth, ME '90 Syncro |
