Dear List,

Thanks so much to all of you who wrote with solutions or expressions of sympathy in response to my stuck axle nut query. I neglected to say that the mechanic was replacing the backing pate as well as the brakes; hence to need to remove the nut. Although some of the suggestions I received would

no doubt have worked eventually, he ended up cutting the thing off with a

torch and replacing both the hub (which had apparently been damaged when the bearing was replaced last year) and the nut.

I'll let you know what she feels like, when I finally get back on the road at the end of the week.

Cheers,

Woody
