Subject: Coolant flushing ?s
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Attempted to do my first ever coolant flushing today.

Only Moderate success... I figure there was still quite a bit of the old solution left in the system as I was making the attempt to add fresh.

I figure I messed up by not disconnecting the various pipes the Bently suggests.

I had a friend helping - a non VW buddy - and because I wasn't confident in my own abilities, i listened more to him, then the Bently... Plus it seemd to me that there was a lot of running back and forth to check the valve up front and the contents of the tank out back.

My friend did the running while I kept the engine at 2000 rpm!

Never did see the new coolant comeout the front.... even though we poured about 10 to 11 litres of fresh phosphate free orange stuff in!! I think it reqires even more!

So... where did I go wrong? And the cut off valve... in my engine compartment, its mounted on the left forward side of the motor, right? < FIF > Any tips on coolant flushing from the list? I know one member is trying to devise a flushing solution that will elkiminate the need for the revving and the running to and fro. If he does, I'm in!!!!!!

Also... I often see my expansion tank bone dry. Is this normal ??

Thanks in advance
