Mike,

I just installed 16 x 7.5 on my Vanagon yesterday which have a 21mm offset. I also put 225/55 on them which most closely matched my stock alloy/tire diameter. I have to tell you the I was very worried about the door clearance issue too. As it sits now, there is a "sliver of light" between the door and the front side of the tire and for some reason it "just touches" the rear side of the tire using the stock door extension. I am afraid the wheels you mentioned will tuck your wheels farther to the inside of the vehicle than the stock wheel which I believe is 30mm (stock alloys).

I will post pictures soon of new wheels and tires. I am very pleased with the new look and handling. Will have to consider it for awhile but a lowering kit may be next. Or maybe a few bags of sand :)

Lee

I was wondering if anyone knows if a set of 16x7.5" (35mm offset) alloys

with 225width tires will fit under the fenders of a '86 Vanagon GL without clearance issues. If there's an issue with the sliding door, does anyone have a source for the door extender (I know these are made, but I don't know who makes it or cost).
