Subject: Plat Cat Noise Levels and installation questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I just fired up my 3P12 Platimum Cat heater for the first time today. It is a refirbished unit from Warmerwagon.

The installation is quite simple, I just got a rubber line from the Propane shop and connected it to my BBQ propane bottle. The physical location is behind the passanger seat fastened to a piece of 5/8" plywood that is fastened to the back of the battery box via two bolts. The reason for this is when June, July and August rolls around, I won't need a heater and I will just remove it.

The interior of my Westie was +8C when I fired it up with the top up and the sliding door window open. ~10 minutes later it was 15C and warn enough for me not to wear a jacket. The only complaint that I have with the heater is that the fan is noisy - doesn't it keep people up at night? Is there different fans that one can install that will make it quiter? Is the function of the fan to push the bad stuff out? If so, would it be possible to install the fan at the end of the pipe and suck the bad stuff out. It's not THAT loud, but I cannot sleep with a wind up alarm clock due to the tick-tick-tick noise, the fan to me is just as bad. I'm fussy I know... but there is always room for improvements in my mind!
