Subject: HELP - Weird Radiator Noises - air getting into system?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Volks, Ever since I overheated my 84 Westie last summer (always replace your engine hoses with NEW engine hoses!) I have been having problems with air getting into the coolant system. I replaced my head gasket and had the head shaved a little as it was slightly warped from the event. Things are much better now (Inline 4 installation) but sometimes when I park the van and turn the engine off there is a big "gaaa-glug" noise coming from the rad and the top two inches is cool. Cracking the bleeder valve will result in the expelation of some air quickly followed by some water. Where is the air getting in the system from. Is it possible that the 16 year old rad has a hole in it? To me the gurgeling noise is means that the water is boiling in the rad due to a lack of pressure somehow. Suggestings anyone...
