Dave,

by saying 'high resistance' David speaks relatively meaning 0.01 ohm is high resistance in this case.

At high currents only a little resistance results high voltage drop (U=IR) to charging circuit. For example if you have 0.01 ohm resistance and charging current is 30 amps => voltage drop is 0.3 V. This seems rather low comparing to battery voltage but it isn't. When speaking this low resistances it is essential to keep contacts clean from any oxidation. Contacts includes bracket as it is the ground connection of alternator.
