For the most part, I think this would work, however, you want to make sure that the tires aren't marked "Rotational" (Shouldn't be a worry for most of us, but some might be running funky tires). If tires are marked Rotational, the have to stay on the same side of the car because the tire is designed to turn mainly in one direction only (at least at speed). But it's mainly performance tires that are marked as such.
