Subject: Re: Oil Filter Gizmos
Content-Type: text/plain

I have used the finned gadget on my Escort for a while. It is supposed to lower the temperature of the oil by 18 degrees. It helped but that wasn't the problem. The Escort does a lot better now that the Catalytic converter was replaced.

Also, on the AFM capacitor fix (which I just did this weekend), the positive end of the capacitor goes to pin two on the AFM connector or wire. The negative lead goes to pin four. That is the polarity that the ECM sends to the sensor. The level is 5 Volts which is in the range of normal logic levels for TTL and Cmos circuits. Many Cmos circuits used to run at 12 volts but they then had to be interfaced to other circuits that were 5 Volts. Also, many of the present computers used for autos are also 5 Volts. Only the newer super fast computers are in the 3.3 Volt range and that is to keep the power and heat down.

William
