it has been my experiance that doing only rings works for a short time
and then the oil consumption increases that said the cylinders need to
be honed to brake the glaze and give the ring a chance to work into the
cylinder. you could use a sand paper a 280 or so grit. they also need to
be washed out to remove the bits of cylinder before the pistons are
installed
