Chris,

I had a leak in my 87 Westy in the exact place you mentioned. What I believe happened was that water was leaking in around the carriage head bolts that hold the skylight in place.

I removed the skylight bolts and put silicone sealer under the heads of each bolt and reassembled the whole thing. Since then.....no leak.
