Hi Fonman, We have it registered outside city limits, no smog test required. I live in Albuquerque, NM. It has been tampered with, we just purchased it. No fuel injection, no oxygen sensor...so does a cat even matter? We went camping last weekend, went up big hills, slow but not bad. Thanks Margie
