There is no oil cooler on a 1.9 engine, but there is on the automatic transmission if you have one, so that is a possibility, but the oil should have a red color in that case.

If you don't have an oil cooler here is really no way for oil to get into the coolant since there are no pressurized oil paths near the coolant chambers or in the heads, so I suggest you have the cooling system flushed and refilled at a different shop, or do it yourself. Your mechanic probably reused your old coolant, or someone else's to save a buck (this is commonly done) and there is a bit of oil in it.
