I broke this on my former 88 when I replaced the thermostat. I could not figure out where it went, or what it did. I glued it together with superglue, and the car still runs today. The only thing I can imagine it is, is a vent for the clutch housing, as the Syncro's are supposed to be "glued" together with a thin bead of silicone between engine and tranny, to keep water out when wading.
