My sincere thanks to all the List Members that wrote to me offering words of wisdom and suggestions in trying to locate the annoying clicking sound from the rear of one of my Westies, a 83.5 automatic. As I mentioned before in my earlier post, I've already been thru most of the common reasons such as replacing both drive-shafts, all wheel bearings, auto trans and final drive service, checking the drive flanges on the final drive for tightness, etc. etc., but yet it continues with that darn noise! The beauty of it is that it shifts so smooth and so strong, and has no metal shavings in either the trans or the final drive, that short of replacing the whole tranny I cant think of another solution.............and that seems like such a waste and a shame............this one's got me really baffled. After so many folks wrote back to me, I did some more research into the thing, and found that the noise is more prominent when the drive-train is cold, but then after a few miles of driving, it's a lot quieter! Hmmmmmm!!! Running out of ideas here.........

Cheers,

Vic Ahmed
