Easy.  In West Virginia, you can have any number of red lights facing to the
rear.  At least two must operate when you actuate your brakes.  Can't have red
or blue lights facing forward (hear me, oh burners of those KEWLLLLL blue fake
HID's?).  No more than one set of forward facing auxiliary lights, which must
be wired to operate with the high beams.  Etc, etc, ad nauseum.

Of course, I'm guessing you don't live in West Virginia.  Sooooooo, I tell you
to call your Highway Patrol or perhaps the idiots at the garage who do your
vehicle inspection.  If your really interested, run down to your local
library.  Find your code, say Michigan Statutes Annotated or some such
nonsense.  Look in the index, probably under "motor vehicles."  There will be
some subheadings such as lighting or equipment.  Use the index to find the
appropriate statute.  Read.  (They used to teach this stuff in Civics 101. 

They don't do it anymore because they're afraid you'll read the Constitution
and realize the very limited power the federal government is supposed to
have.)
