Hi all! I was in Alaska for a couple of months last year. For the outdoor type, it is paradise! I was near Anchorage, but also ventured out in search of moose - found lots of them. There is so much to do there. The one things I HIGHLY recommend is a flight-seeing tour of Denali (Mount McKinnely). It is absolutely breath-taking. When you get there, hopefully near anchorage, any newspaper, tour guide, or hotel can tell you about the flight-seeing tours. Also venture out in almost any direction. Seward is particularly nice. If you go there, take a cruise of the inlet. You will see lots of wildlife - we saw deer, mountain goats, sheep, an incredible assortment of strange birds. Z

I popped up an idea of going up to Alaska in my 88 Weekender (or Westfalia if I find one) with my wife and two kids during the summer from Southern California. Any suggestion or recommendation on the Alaska trip, dates. sightseeings, stopovers, campgrounds etc??? Thanks for your input... James W88kender Anaheim, California |
