Andrew, The SVX engine in the US makes 230HP and 228ft/lbs. I have run Buick V6's in two VW campers, a '78 and an '80. These engines were making about 150HP, and were used with the tired, stock transaxles. Both are still going strong after more than 30k miles each. Kennedy states the Vanagon trans is quite sufficient for the (US) 130HP Legacy 2.2L SOHC engine. Larry
