Thanks to all those who suggested methods for remvoing the battery in an '87 westfalia. There's not an auto parts store in my town, so I didn't get around to looking for the strap that attaches to the battery terminal posts. However, while at the hardware store, I noticed a bungee type strap made of rubber. It's thicker and less flexible than a regular bungee cord, and I suppose it is normally used to tie down items. Anyway, with a metal hook on each end, I was able to insert the hooks into the battery handles and use the rubber strap to lift the battery out. IT worked well, and the strap was only 99 cents. Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else can use the idea. David |
