When my 2.1L was rebuilt, it was run for two hours on straight 30wt oil. Then the oil was changed and a new filter installed. Drove it for 500 miles at 55mph or under. I made a point to make most of that mileage on a good round trip drive on the highway so I could maintain pretty much a constant engine speed and load. At the 500 mark I changed the oil to a detergent type oil - Texaco Havoline and put on another filter. Changed it all again at 1500 miles and now I am running on a regular change schedule of 2500 miles. Worked really good for me. No oil consumption and good compression.
