Subject: MB wheels on a Vanagon

I have a friend who recently purchased a set of mid 70's Mercedes Benz alloy wheels for his 88 Double-Cab. He said that the place that sold him the wheels guaranteed that they were the correct fitment. they then proceeded to bore out the centre of the wheel with a hand held electric drill and change the wheel studs and lug nuts.

I would like to get the correct info for him on the exact specs of the RWD Vanagon wheels. Does any one on the list know what the exact hub dia. ,offset, wheel stud dia. and do the VW lug nuts seat properly in the M.B. wheels?

I am wondering if it is possible with out to much trouble to adapt these wheels properly and safely to work on a Vanagon? If so what has to be done to make them work safely?Does one need wheel spacers or other modifications? Thanks for the help.

Cheers Glen
