About the aux. battery, the relay under the driver's seat of your '91 westy is not for a aux. battery. That relay that you mentioned is for the refrigerator. It turns the refrigerator on and off, while it's running on the 12 volt setting, depending on if the alternator is charging or not.

I have been wondering for some time whether my 87 Westy had some built in mechanism to turn off the fridge when it was set to run on 12 volt and the motor wasn't running. The reason I suspected this was that occasionally when I forgot to switch the fridge off myself, and left the car parked, the battery didn't seem to discharge at all. Is that what this snippet implies? There is nothing I can find in my owner's manual about this, and it would sure make life a lot simpler if I didn't have to worry all the time about shutting off the fridge every time I park the van.

Can anyone enlighten me on this question?

Kath, Rob and Vanita (87 Westy) North Vancouver
