it could just be an idle circuit or an a/c circuit kicking in and adjusting the idle so that there is not as much strain on the engine.

i know on my dad's subaru, when you turn on the a/c, the idle speed is raised to counteract the effects of the a/c compressor, and when you are just starting the car in the morning, the idle is higher because a cold engine needs a richer fuel mixture to combust properly (or so i think)

so i don't believe that your problem is really a problem at all.

my $.02 worth,
