Subject: FS: 1988 Wolfsburg VW Factory Lowered Springs
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

I am selling the springs from my 1988 Wolfsburg factory VW German springs. I cannot find the color markings on the springs. The weight of my vanagon is @4000 lbs. Load capicity is @1200 lbs. Age of springs 10 years. I am second owner. The Vanagon did not have any height problems, one side leaning, etc., that caused me to replace the springs.

I was deciding to replace the springs OR add bigger front and install a rear bar, to control a leaning condition in curves. It was a little worse when I had a passenger in the front seat.

I thought that the springs were worn out, but I it turned out to be the sway bar was inadiquite and bushings are worn out, because After the new springs the van still had the condition, although not as pronounced, when I had a person in the front seat. While he H&R springs DID increase the handling in curves, in sharp curves the laws of motion are in play with greater force, thus the need for a larger front and the addition of a rear sway bar to increase the control the body lean.

The springs would be good for any vanagon but westy and synros. The weight might be too much.

The springs will lower the vanagon by @1.5" and the ride will be a bit firmer from non-lowerered springs, you can get the lowered look and increased handling but with the softer ride (When compared to stock pre 87' now Wolfsburg height springs).

For increased control the addition of a larger front sway bar and possible rear sway bar will increase handling in corners but not increase the stiffer ride.

I have pictures of my vanagon before the H&R spring installation, with the stock springs.

I am asking $225 for the springs and buyer pays shipping. I will take the first Email response.

Robert
