Douglas,

Auto or manual trannied Vanagons seem to have different hose setups. Is your van auto or manual? It appears from your description that your van has a manual transmission, and the "split" hoses.

However, if the small "pipe" part of the complex item (below the "Bleeder Valve",) as the part is presently installed, is broken at the connection between the thick and thin juncture, you may cut back the reinforcement (at the "brace" below the two diametered-pipe) to expose more "pipe," and connect the hose, successfully. That is the way I repaired mine, and why I have the spare. I bought the spare before I fully analyzed the opportunity to "repair" the part. It has been problem-free for about two years.

My "spare" carries part number 025 121 082. It looks vaguely like a pair of binoculars, and is expensive, at about $50.00.

Tom Hanlon Palm Springs, CA 84 Westy (manual)
