Hi Karl,

As Chris wrote, all the 2WD wasser trannies are interchangeable with no
mods. If you install an air-cooled van tranny in a wasser van, then you must
swap to the earlier style linkage. Both are side-shifter tranys, just
different flavors. The '79 and earlier busses use the front mounted shiter
linkages.
