Actually, the $50 one *is* original equipment - it is the redesigned version that came on '88-91 Westies. This is genuine Westfalia issue, not a copy. It is no more or less plastic than the earlier version - both are made from the same mold using the identical materials. As most of you know, the doors on these inlets are fragile to begin with, and the redesigned version did away with the spring loaded door that breaks so easily. It is also much easier to fill, since when opened the redesigned door acts as somewhat of a funnel. To each his own, I guess, but personally, I much prefer the ease of use of the later style inlet on my '89, over the earlier one on my '85. - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot, Inc. http://www.busdepot.com |
