I was actually able to replace the sending unit by simply lowering the tank
a few inches. I disconnected the fill hose and the two smaller connections
at the back of the tank.
The second time (after I realized I hadn't made the electrical connection to
the sender), I simply removed the straps and let the tank hang about three
inches. I was just able to reach up above the tank to plug it in.
