Karl, in 1989, I was in the 7th year of my '82 Vanagon diesel. I was on
I-275 near Livonia, MI, running it flat out. Something had taken a chunk
out of the oil pan, but oil pressure light did not come on until after the
#2 piston had gone through the side of the block.
