Dear friends. A month ago I finished my TD conversion now my westy has 90hp instead of 50 , now naturally the van needs a longer gear ratio , my current trans, is a 5 speed for 50 horse diesel and I run 5100 rpm at 140km/h (87 miles/h) I guess my ring and pinion ratio is 5.50 or 5.428 (38/7) , I guess 2 liter aircooled 4 speed trans' have 4.57 r/p if so or not (I am sure they are longer than diesel's) do you have an idea If I can fit 4.57 ring and pinion gears to my trans. ?? I choosed aircooled's because only thats avaible in local junk-yard I couldnt find a WBX or TD one .. thanks Eren Berberoglu (vanagon freak from Turkey) 1986 westy 1.6 turbo-diesel w/intercooler www.mechano.8m.com
